Calf sales reflect tail end of season
FOCUS ON FARMING
In the second last feeder calf sale of the season on Thursday, October 7 at Dannevirke, NZ Farmers Livestock sold 60 calves and while the quality remains high the demand was limited, most farmers having already reached their quota for the season. Auctioneer Clint Worthington said prices were about on par for this and previous seasons, really good whitefaced bull calves reaching $125-35/head but smaller offerings averaging $60-80/head. Demand for heifers was low the top price for really good quality calves being $80/head. Buyers and sellers mingled on almost their last chance at the auction.
