Team tennis: After five weeks of red hot doubles tennis in the Whangamata Challenge team tennis tournament, there were only four games between the top two sides. Simon Bratten’s Team Challenge edged out the A team by 125 games to 121. This tournament consisted of four players a team, two male and two female, with each playing doubles and combined doubles. “Consistency and focus were key in our success,” said Simon, who led his team from the front. Angie Dewhurst, Sue Blanchett and Don Mackay made up the rest of Team Challenge. In the final round Team Challenge continued their very consistent form against Ray White. The Reuben van Dorsten-led Ray White team included Murray and Kylie Ward and Jill Agnew. Final results: Team Challenge 126, A team (Mark Cameron, David and Karen Branks, Jan Ross), Ray White 111, Double Trouble 89, New Team and Apotex 44. Thanks to tournament organiser Mike Frogley, sponsors Whangamata Challenge, Whangamata New World and John Vaughan Enterprises and cheers to courtside manager Sally, Britta, Derrick plus Paula and Tony from Ray White.
