Right time to Mingle

News

Last year's Mid Winter Mingle by Arts Collective Whangamata was changed to ‘Spring Mingle' thanks to Covid-19. But the art group is on track for their second Mid Winter Mingle, and organisers promise it to be bigger and better than last year. Spokesperson Lynne Robinson says there will be ‘‘more artists (both 2D and 3D) and musicians, more convivial spaces to ‘linger at the mingle' and the same format of canapes and your choice of mulled wine or other wine''. The exhibition will be at Whangamata Club. ‘‘The current exhibition there features vibrant art from artists who are also preparing to display their work in the Mingle. And so, the Mid Winter Mingle builds on that positive community relationship with the club.'' The arts collective committee has a key goal to provide four exhibitions each year to showcase the talent of its members. Later this year new event Art in the Park at Bushlands Park will be held, where artists exhibit in garden party style. This event will highlight that the collective corporates other arts as well, Lynne says, such as visual art, with music, drama and performance highlights.
