High school ready to roll out a classic

ARTS

The much anticipated Te Puke High School 2021 production is nearly here. Staff and students have been working extremely hard to create a colourful and entertaining rendition of Grease. Written by Jim Jacobs and Warren Casey, this popular musical follows a group of teens through their senior year of high school as the class of 1959. Having recently moved from Australia, Sandy meets Danny at the beach and they share a summer romance under the California sun. After a change of plans for Sandy, things become more complicated once the school year begins. Join the Greasers, the Pink Ladies, the cheerleaders, jocks and the nerds as they navigate their way through peer-pressures, turf wars, dance competitions and hormones. Grease is a nostalgic story full of high emotions, catchy tunes and great hair. The Grease season starts with a gala opening on June 19 at 6.30pm. The gala show will offer a fun atmosphere including Grease inspired nibbles and a dessert buffet designed and prepared by the top senior hospitality students, as well as tea, coffee and cold drinks. Those going to the opening night are encouraged to dress in 1950s style and sing along to their favourite songs. Tickets for this show are $35 per person. To book a table please contact the school office on 573 9769. The rest of the season runs from June 30 to July 2 with shows starting at 7.30pm. Tickets for these shows are $15 for adults, $10 for students and $5 for children. They can be purchased at the high school office.
