Engraved glass panels set for Taupo Quay bus shelters
Whanganui artist Claire Bell (pictured, with glass panel) has a second public artwork in the pipeline, with engraved glass panels set to be installed in the Intercity bus shelters on Taupo Quay this weekend. Glass panels engraved by the artist were installed in the Rangiora Street bus shelter in Castlecliff last year. Claire Bell says the idea was “inspired by the race in Aesop’s fable – my idea is that there are different kinds of visits to our city, fast and slow, and both kinds are enjoyable”. A blessing for the new bus shelter glass panels will be held at 23 Taupo Quay on Saturday, 12 June at 2.00pm. The artist will give a short talk about the engraved glass panels at UCOL following the opening.
