Whanganui & Partners – Whanganui District Council’s economic development agency – is calling for final community feedback on its Destination Marketing Plan 2020-2030. Paul Chaplow, Whanganui & Partners’ strategic lead – visitor industries, says, “Destination management brings together different stakeholders to develop a well-managed, sustainable visitor destination. It’s a way for us to identify the social, economic, cultural and environmental risks and opportunities and plan our future around them.” In addition to providing a roadmap for developing Whanganui as a destination, Paul Chaplow says having a destination management plan opens up opportunities to attract future funding to Whanganui. “Access to this funding requires having a destination management plan in place. No region’s plan is the same, and we need to ensure that ours reflects the interests and values of the people of Whanganui and what we want for our region.” You can view Whanganui & Partners’ Destination Marketing Plan 2020-2030 at: To give your feedback on the plan via a survey, please visit: Feedback closes at midnight on Sunday, 12 December 2021.
